Scitech's entry this years is a Science Theatre Performance!

Ignite Your Curiosity

Curiosity drives science, compelling us to ask questions and find answers. Join Scitech's dynamic Science Communicators this July, as we ignite your curiosity in a high energy performance of chemical concoctions and chemistry driven stunts, performed to a musical soundtrack. Ignite Your Curiosity, doesn’t explain – it provokes! Audience members can cheer, boo, chat and predict all through this show as the presenter doesn’t speak. Some might even be invited to help out with the on-stage antics! The audience is encouraged to initiate their own enquiry skills by predicting what will happen next and share ideas. Afterwards, curious minds are invited to find out more about the chemistry and science behind the show in a Q&A with the performer.

Chemistry Busks

To support our entry into the International Chemistry & Art Competition, Scitech's Science Communicators will also be delivering a suite of chemistry themed "Pop-up Science" demonstrations that will roll out during the July School Holidays. These informal Science "busks" are approximately 15-minutes long. Topics will include painting a picture with acids and bases, onto universal indicator.

Why don't you head to Scitech in Perth these school holidays?
Don’t miss their incredible entry for the International Chemistry & Art Competition! Immerse yourself in the experience—and if you snap any photos or videos during your visit, we’d love for you to share them with us!

Title: ‘Explode’

Description - What Chemistry means to Discovery:

We love a good explosion. They are exciting and a little frightening but most of all they are the reason for life, the universe and everything. With the mightiest cosmic explosion, the Big Bang brought all matter into existence. This elemental material, cannot be destroyed, only forever recycled and rebuilt over and over again.

The dust of stars now forms all the little treasures and trinkets we humans make, love and discard. But these too will be stars again one day.

This artwork brings together hundreds of recycled and broken bits and pieces to help define our own cosmic explosion, as one drop too many drips into the universal flask.
