Schools are invited to enter teams from Grades 11 and 12 in the NT Titration Competition.
The aim of the competition is to encourage students who enjoy Chemistry - especially practical Chemistry - and to recognise proficiency. Leading teams in the NT Competition are eligible to enter the Finals of the National Competition, to be held during term 3 at CDU (Yellow 2 chem labs 2, 3, 4) on 9 September 2023 from 9.30AM to 12.30PM
Competition Entry $18 per team and $10 postage per school if required. Credit Card payment is required at registration. Schools can chose to pick up the chemicals from CDU (Yellow 2 chem labs) on 23rd August between 10AM - 12PM or 3PM - 5PM
Due date for schools to register teams is Monday 14 August 2023, after which teachers will be sent the competition instructions with results sheet to complete and return to the Titration Coordinator.
Please send results sheet via email to the Titration Coordinator EMAIL no later than 5PM on Friday 25 August 2023.
For all teams competing in the NT competition, the analysis to be conducted is as follows:
"The analysis to be conducted involves preparation of a standard solution of potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHP) (provided), standardisation of a solution of NaOH, and titration of a second sample of KHP. Judging is on the basis of the values reported for the amount of KHP in the Unknown Sample."
