Tasmanian Titration Competition

Schools are invited to enter teams in the High School division (Years 9/10) or College division (Years 11/12) of the Tasmanian Titration Competition.  The aim of the competition is to encourage students who enjoy Chemistry - especially practical Chemistry - and to recognise proficiency.  Leading teams in the Tasmanian Competition are eligible to enter the Finals of the National Competition, to be held late in term 3.

Entrants compete in teams of three (3). Individual students may also compete, but they will not be eligible for the National Finals. Each member of each team performs a simple acid-base titration exercise.

Unfortunately, UTAS will be unable to host the titration competition this year due to the impacts of COVID-19.

However, we will be running the competition with students completing their titrations at their own school in the same way as 2020.  There is a charge for this of $15 per team, or $5 per individual student. There is no restriction on the number of teams that can be entered in this part of the competition.   The Tasmanian competition will be held over the first three weeks of Term 3 at a time convenient with each school.

Any questions about the Tasmanian Titration Competition should be directed to Brendon Gourlay ([email protected]).
