Congratulations to our Australia Day Honours recipients

Two highly credentialed and respected RACI members were recently recognised with the Member of the Order of Australia on the Australia Day 2022 Honours List – Dr Graeme Edward Batley AM and Dr Graeme Moad AC.
Dr Graeme Edward Batley AM received his citation for significant service to environmental toxicology and chemical science. A former President of the RACI NSW Branch, Dr Batley was made an Honorary Life Member of RACI in 2011 and is currently the Chief Research Scientist for CSIRO, heading up their Environmental Contaminant Mitigation and Technologies research program. His many achievements include Foundation President of SETAC (Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry) Asia/Pacific; Editorial Board Member advising on prominent journals for CSIRO and Integrated Environmental Assessment and Management; and recipient of various awards including the SETAC Lifetime Achievement Award, CSIRO Chairman’s Medal and RACIs Environmental and Analytical Chemistry Medals. Dr Graeme Moad AC received his citation for eminent service to science, particularly polymer design and synthesis and radical polymerisation, education through mentoring, and to professional scientific organisations. A former Chairman of RACIs Polymer Division, Dr Moad has been a fellow of RACI since 1992 in addition to holding fellow status at CSIRO, Australian Academy of Sciences, and Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering. In 2020 he was awarded the Australian Academy of Sciences David Craig Medal, adding to his many achievements which include the CSIRO Newton-Turner Award and RACI Battaerd-Jordon Polymer Medal. An author/co-author of over 200 publications as well as co-inventor of 37 patent families, Dr Moad is currently Project Lead for CSIROs More Energy Efficient Smart Windows, RAFT Electrochemistry, and Strategic Polymer Synthesis.
