RACI Chemical Education Division Medal

 

Nominations for the Division Medal should include the following information:

● Curriculum vitae (maximum 1 page) including details of leadership roles and activities directly related to chemical education. 

● A detailed statement of no more than 1000 words describing the nominee's sustained contribution to chemical education in Australia as demonstrated in one or more of the following: research, teaching, and public engagement in chemistry.

● Details of relevant publications and other supporting information (1 page). A pdf copy of 2 publications considered to demonstrate significant impact in chemical education (or related impact in science or higher education, see below) are to be attached to the application.

● Names and addresses of two referees (confidential). 
 

The sub-committee of the division take into account the extent to which the nominee has met the following criteria in considering applications:

● A sustained contribution to chemical education in Australia evident within the 10 year period immediately prior to the submission date of the nomination.

● Evidence of impact on a national scale through research, teaching, engagement and/or service in chemistry education and/or Fellowship recognition such as an Advance HE Fellow.

● Track record in the scholarship of teaching and learning in chemistry evidenced by quality outputs (such as invited oral contributions to national and international conferences, publication in chemistry education journals, book chapters or books).

● Organisation and coordination of national events promoting and supporting research and evidence-based practice in chemical education.

● Contribution to national/international chemistry education policy or guidelines (such as representation on national and international educational boards and/or committees).

● Development of teaching and learning resources (such as books, visual aids, interactive learning resources, online technologies/tools) that have subsequently been widely adopted.

● The development of innovative pedagogies that have been evidenced as having positive impact on student learning and/or the student experience in learning chemistry.

● The development of inclusive curricula and practices that widen participation in learning chemistry for traditionally underrepresented groups of students.

● Contribution to work in areas allied to chemical education, e.g. science education and higher education, will be considered but the nominee is required to demonstrate the impact of outcomes on chemical education in Australia.

● Service to the Royal Australian Chemical Institute in Chemical Education and/or the Division of Chemical Education.

RACI Chemical Education Division Citations

 

Nominations for a Division Citation should include the following information:

● Curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages) including details of relevant dissemination or other evidence of impact related to chemical education such as relevant publications.

● A general statement of no more than 500 words addressing one or more the criteria listed below describing the nominee's contribution to chemical education in Australia that has had significant impact over at least a 2 year period within the past 10 years. 
 

The sub-committee of the division take into account one or more of the following criteria in considering applications:

● Contribution to Australian chemical education in any context (secondary, tertiary or public engagement) evidenced by: impact on learning outcomes; delivery of evidence-based approaches to teaching; and/or promotion of teaching as a career.

● Development of teaching and learning resources (such as books, visual aids, interactive learning resources, online technologies/tools) that have been demonstrated as effective in learning and adopted by peers.

● The development of inclusive curricula and practices that widen participation in learning chemistry for traditionally underrepresented groups of students.

● Service to the Royal Australian Chemical Institute through leadership in mentoring or professional development of peers in Chemical Education.
