Western Australian Branch Groups

The role of the RACI inc is to promote the science and practice of chemistry in all its branches by:

Improving the status and advancing the interests of the profession; Increasing the confidence of the community in the employment of recognised chemists, biochemists, chemical technologists and chemical engineers; Improving the availability of chemical information and keeping members aware of developments; Encouraging the continuing education of all members of the chemical profession by arranging lectures, seminars, symposia, courses, conferences and conventions; Formulating policy and providing an informed comment on national and international matters involving chemistry.

This is done through numerous activities organised through various interest groups. The WA Branch of the RACI currently has five active groups:

Analytical Chemistry Group

Chemical Education Group

Health, Safety and Environment Group

Management and Career Development Group

Tertiary Students Group

Each of these groups regularly organise seminars, laboratory visits and social functions to meet others and keep abreast of technical developments in their related fields of interest. You can find out more about the aims of each group and their activities by going into their websites or contacting one of the members of the Branch Committee.

The role and duties of the officebearers within each of the RACI WA Groups are outlined in the Groups Operational Manual. Latest version of this document will be available soon, it is currently being updated.
