North Eastern Representative
Dr Adam Cawley, FRACI
Adam was elected as North-Eastern representative on the RACI Board in 2011. In addition he has responsibility for chairing the Australian National Chemistry Quiz (ANCQ) committee.
Adam has been active with the RACI NSW Branch committee for the past seven years, serving three as Secretary and two as President. He remains on the committee as Past-President.
Adam was educated at the University of Sydney gaining his B.Sc. with first-class Honours (2002) and a PhD in Chemistry (2007). He remains an Honorary Research Associate with the same institution.
Adam has a strong interest in academic-industry linkages with nine years employment as a forensic chemist in sports anti-doping and illicit drug analysis with the National Measurement Institute while completing his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
Concurrently, he pursued an interest in science policy as a ministerial intern in Education, Science and Training. He was then employed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor-Research at the University of Sydney as a Senior Advisor for research quality and Program Manager of the Cancer Research Network.
Adam is currently employed as Science Manager for Racing NSW. In this role he is responsible for the research and development of analytical methods capable of detecting new forms of doping in racehorses and greyhounds.
