Contributions
Chemistry in Australia is the magazine of The Royal Australian Chemical Institute Inc. (RACI). Our full colour, 44-page magazine is published 11 times per year.
Our editorial content reflects the diversity and character of chemistry and the RACI community, and we welcome contributions along these lines. Our content includes not only chemistry but also topics of interest and importance to chemistry professionals and all RACI members, including:
- General features on themes that affect and engage chemists
- Research, industry and general news
- Letters to the Editor
- Regular views and reviews on topics such as media, climate change, education and networking
- Special features covering careers in chemistry

Chemistry in Australia is a magazine, not a peer-reviewed journal. Highly technical or specialist articles will not be accepted and would best be directed to an appropriate scientific journal. Please contact the Editor, Sally Woollett, wools@westnet.com.au, for further information about contributing a feature.
Contributions are also welcome for letters to the Editor, book and software reviews. Please see recent issues of Chemistry in Australia for examples. Submissions can be emailed to wools@westnet.com.au
All submissions may be edited for the purposes of clarity and/or space.
Book and software reviews
We publish reviews of chemistry books and software of interest to chemistry professionals. If you would like to see a book or software reviewed, or would like to offer your services as a reviewer, please contact:
Assoc Prof Helmut Hügel
Ph (03) 9925 2626
Fax(03) 9639 1321
Email helmut.hugel@rmit.edu.au
Please apply to our Book Review Editor with your name, contact details, educational qualifications, field of interest and professional experience.
Have you read an interesting book that is worth reviewing in Chemistry in Australia?
What's the latest science/chemistry related software that has made life easier for you?
Recommend books or software to us and we will consider reviewing them.
New Fellows
So that other readers can find out about Fellowships recently awarded by the RACI, Chemistry in Australia invites New Fellows to submit a short piece for publication in the magazine.
We would like to receive approximately 350 words (two or three short paragraphs) and an image. We welcome general information about your awards and achievements, but prefer that you highlight some key events, rather than present a résumé-style list. Details of personal as well as professional interests are encouraged.
The image could be a passport-style photograph, or an image of you at work or engaged in another activity referred to in your submitted text. The image needs to be of high resolution (1500 pixels wide, if possible), submitted as a .jpg or .tif file.
Please email your text and image to the Production Editor, Catherine Greenwood csgreenwood@optusnet.com.au
