Periodic Table on Show Launch!

The RACI are very excited about the upcoming launch of the Periodic Table on Show – The Art of Chemistry project!

The launch will take place in Hobart, Tasmania on Thursday 4th August 2011

Dr Vicki Gardiner who is coordinating the project, has worked for the last 12 months to bring together 79 Australian chemistry professionals and 38 Tasmanian printmakers to interpret each of the 112 elements.

Dr Gardiner stated:

"It is unbelievable to think that the work of over 100 people during the past 12 months has come together to produce this wonderful multifaceted project. I am extremely excited about the upcoming launch."

Carolyn Canty one of the 38 printmakers and coordinator with Dr Gardiner stated:

"Having looked at proofs then individual element editions, then panels of work in my studio, I cannot wait to see the final table up on the wall in all its glory!"

This looks like a fantastic concept with considerable creative input by RACI members and colleagues which should stimulate the interest of chemistry students and practitioners. Why is this touring exhibition not a national one and is it too late to extend to other states?

I really loved the periodic table printmaking project 1997 (see http://www.azuregrackle.com/periodictable/table/) and i can't wait to see how our version has turned out. I imagine the contrast between the two projects results will add another dimension of interest for me.

Nice idea that needs editing. I had difficulty reading the symbols for numbers 11, 22,40,
    45, 46, 57, 60, 77, 101, 103 and 111 . The symbols and numbers are important the rest should be just background
