Conditions are listed below:

The Division of Organic Chemistry of The Royal Australian
Chemical Institute Inc. shall have an award entitled: "The
Birch Medal". This shall be the premier award of the
Division.

One medal may be awarded at each National Meeting of the
Division.

The medal shall be awarded for excellence in organic chemical
research conducted in Australia by a member of The RACI.

The recipient shall normally be invited to present a paper to
the National Meeting at which the award is made.

The Secretary of the Division shall make two calls for
nominations for the award medal at least six months before the
National Meeting at which the award is to be made.

Nominations shall be closed within two months of the final
call.

Nominations for the medal should include the following
information:
- Name
- Curriculum Vitae

A concise statement of the nominee's contribution to
research in organic chemistry in Australia

A list of published research papers for the past 10
years: and of other publications (e.g. books, review
chapters, etc) relevant to the advancement of organic
chemistry, without time restriction.

The Standing Committee of the Division shall appoint a
sub-committee of three members (with power to co-opt),
including the Chairman of Division, to consider applications
and to recommend to the Standing Committee. The Chairman of
Division shall be ex officio, the Chairman of the
sub-committee.
