MRACI Post Graduate Student Travel Award
The RACI has introduced the Graduate Student Travel Award to assist PG Student members of the Institute to travel professionally from their home institution.
Award
A certificate and an award of $2000 to assist the student to collaborate with a research group at another Australian university or overseas, or, to make use of specialised research facilities (e.g. an advanced light source), or, to deliver a paper at a meeting overseas. The award WILL NOT be granted for travel to an Australian based conference or workshop. On completion of the travel - documentary proof including copies of receipts must be given to the RACI, the student is also expected to send the RACI a short account (1 page maximum) of the visit and make it available for publication and or make themselves available to speak about their experience to science/chemistry students at a RACI Affiliate Member school.
Award winner will be notified in August.

Membership type: MRACI Post Graduate Student
Membership duration: Minimum 12 months
Demographic requirement: Enrolled as a PhD student at any Australian University
Application procedure
Individual application: Yes
Nomination: Two letters supporting the application, one from academic advisor and one from a person familiar with applicant’s research performance.
Motivation for award required: A short description of the purpose of the travel award and expected outcomes.
CV required: Yes, highlighting degrees, awards and any relevant publications.
Summary of Research papers: No
Research paper synopsis required: No
Referee report required: Name and contact information of academic advisor.
Referee contact details required: Yes
Other: Written evidence of an invitation to collaborate at another Institution or written acceptance of the paper to be delivered at an overseas meeting together with budget accounting for the requested award.
Closing date: 30th June 2013
Submission: Emailed in a single PDF document to awards@RACI.org.au for the attention of Robyn Taylor. Receipt will be acknowledged by return email.
The decision of the judges will be subject to the approval of the RACI Board. RACI awards are judged on a relative to opportunity basis. The Board decision is final and no discussions or correspondence will be entered into.
