Involving Young Scientists

ƒThe RACI acknowledges that it is critical that young chemists, including school students, must be inspired by the challenges of chemistry and the chemical sciences. Outstanding young research chemists will be encouraged to give invited lectures throughout the breadth of the Congress including the partner events. As part of the invitation to present lectures these scientists will be offered special registration/accommodation packages via financial sponsorship. The goal is to offer a registration package at the discounted RACI member rates inclusive of accommodation. ƒ

Graduate students and young research workers (early year postdoctoral fellows) will be offered a competitive package similar to that above. ƒ

The young scientists program will embrace early year graduate students, undergraduate students and senior school students in the form of an outreach program. School teachers will also be encouraged to participate in this program. This outreach program is to be led by Dr Vicki Gardiner, Director of the Tasmanian Division of Engineers Australia and Mr Gordon Weiss, principle consultant of Energetics Australia.

It is envisaged that the entire young scientists program will be financed by Government and industrial sponsorship.

Negotiations will occur with the IUPAC Bureau regarding the IUPAC financial contribution for the Young Scientists Program.
