Citations: Call For Nominations
Nominations are now being sought for the Chemical Education
Citations. Conditions are indicated below. Nominators should take
note that up to three citations may be made in any one calendar
year.

- The Division of Chemical Education of the Royal Australian Chemical
Institute shall have an award entitled: "The Division of Chemical Education Citation".
- 2
- Up to three citations may be awarded in each calendar year
and, where possible, shall be presented at a National Meeting
of the Division, the next meeting being next meeting being the RACI ChemEd08 Conference in Fremantle, Western Australia from 30 November to 4 December 2008.

- The citation(s) shall be awarded in recognition of a significant
contribution to Chemical Education.

- The citation(s) shall normally be awarded to permanent resident(s)
of Australia. Nominees do not need to be RACI members.
- 5
- The recipient(s) may be invited to present a paper either
to a National Meeting of the Division or, if that is not possible,
to a specially designated meeting in the State or Territory of
residence of the recipient.
- 6
- Submissions may be made by self-nomination, by nomination
by two members of the Division of Chemical Education, or by invitation
of the Standing Committee of the Division.

- Nominations close on 31 May 2008 and should
be addressed to the Divisional Chair.

- Nominations for the citation(s) should include the following
information:
- Name
- Curriculum vitae
- A general statement describing the nominee's significant
contribution to chemical education in Australia
- Details of publications and/or other supporting material.
- 9
- The Standing committee of the Division shall appoint a sub-committee
of five members (with power to co-opt), including the Chairperson
of Division, to consider applications and to recommend to the
Standing Committee. The Chairperson of Division shall be, ex
officio, the Chairperson of the sub-committee.

- The sub-committee shall consider applications on the basis
of some or all of the following:
- Contribution to Australian chemical education through teaching.
- Personal contribution in the production of teaching aids,
e.g. books, visual aids, innovative teaching apparatus, computer
techniques.
- Contributions to the popularization of the teaching of chemistry
in the general community.
- The development of curricula for special groups of students,
e.g. less able students or academically bright students.
- Service to the Division of Chemical Education of the Royal Australian
Chemical Institute.
